Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer, ideally within welding, fabrication, or heavy engineering environments.
- Strong background in electrical fault finding, PLC diagnostics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Experience in developing and implementing PPM schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
Desirable:
- Experience servicing or repairing CNC cutting machines and weld robots.
- Experience working across multi-site operations.
Description
Work Location: In-person
Travel: Regular visits to Bridgend, Wales – approximately twice per month
Responsibilities
Maintenance and Equipment Care
- Maintain and implement preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules for all production equipment in line with regulatory, warranty, and insurance requirements.
- Ensure all service, testing, and inspection activities comply with company quality and safety standards.
- Manage and update maintenance records, logs, and internal software systems.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with equipment maintenance and servicing.
- Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure service coverage and manage the approval process for new suppliers in collaboration with the Purchasing Department.
Breakdown Response and Support
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, ensuring safe and timely resolution to minimise downtime.
- Develop and maintain service plans that prevent repeat failures.
- Support production teams during out-of-hours breakdowns or maintenance interventions.
- Implement and enforce Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) safety procedures.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor machinery and equipment performance, identifying opportunities to improve safety, reliability, and productivity.
- Evaluate equipment utilisation and advise management on performance optimisation.
- Drive improvements to maintenance processes, stock control, and spares management.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with Production, Facilities, Safety, and Engineering teams to ensure maintenance and servicing activities are coordinated effectively.
- Conduct site tours and maintain accurate records of supplier visits, maintenance actions, and outcomes.
- Educate team members on appropriate channels for reporting maintenance issues and improvements.
Qualifications
- Forklift licence or additional technical certifications.
